Baddogs - www.wcffc.com Divisional WinnersTournament was played July 16th & 17th 2011, games are played in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada (South East of Vancouver).
Style: 8on8 Tournament Play - 2-3 games on day one for seeding, single elimination tournament on day two.

Baddogs fall short in NWFFC Championship gameBig thanks to Maximus Sports for hosting a quality tournament.
The Baddogs swept the individual events to start off a great weekend of flag football. Congratulations to Adante "Sub-Prime Time" Melton for winning the FASTEST MAN contest. Double congratulations to Brian "Big Pomps" Pomper for winning the LONGEST PUNT and LONGEST THROW. The seeding round was 2 games. First facing off against the 'Self Made Kings' from Medford, and second against team 'Duck Inn' also from Oregon. After winning both contests the Baddogs entered the tournament bracket as the 2nd seed, with the rest of the teams rounding out rankings below: (1) 2-0 Tacoma Sharks - WA (2) 2-0 Leny's Baddogs - WA (3) 2-0 Lakewood Warriors - WA (4) 1-1 Self Made Kings - OR (5) 1-1 Navy City Metals - WA (6) 1-1 Duck Inn - OR (7) 0-2 The Rooskies - OR (8) 0-2 Scissor Me Timbers - OR (9) *2-0 Willamette Valley Warriors - OR (10) *2-0 Lethal Injections - WA The Baddogs progressed through Day 2 winning the next two contests against tough teams. They looked like they had a strong chance in the final, going 4-0, against a team they had beat in the seeding round; 'Self Made Kings.' Needless to say when the final whistle blew, and the Baddogs did not come away with victory, the disappointment was palpable. The Baddogs did, however, come away with a lot of class. Like professionals the Baddogs congratulated the other team and there was mutual respect among both squads. They'll definitely be seeing each other in future tournaments. The rest of the tournament results can be seen at right.--> |
Lenys Crew Leads off 2011 with Winter 9v9 Championship
The season started on a cool, slightly overcast day, not to
untypical of Seattle weather. Lenys Crew looked like a championship
contender...that is until they actually stepped on the field. The first
game of the season was marred with mistakes, turnovers and a lot of
learning. What looked so promising on paper wasn't panning out on the
field. After a terrible defeat, Team Captain Andy "Big Tex"
Evans brought everybody together...."We are alright, we always loose the
first game and after we make adjustments this week we will come back
strong." While he is not the king of everything, as he might have
you think, he was correct.
A few practices and some personnel switches and Lenys Crew was rolling. Shutting out the next opponent, and holding teams to an average of 9 points or less through the season. After defeating the defending champions, Timeout, and an undermanned Huskies team....the Crew stormed into the playoffs as the #1 seed.
The first round was a bye week; Lenys watched as the Trojans set up a rematch of the week 1 loss. Fired up was an understatement: Lenys Crew was fully prepared for everything the Trojans tried to do. Scoring on long plays, Lenys never let up. The win against the Trojans set up a "Dream" match-up for the Championship as Antioch, the #2 seed in the playoffs, would meet the #1 seed.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP
It would not stop raining, all morning it poured, and the weather continued throughout the game. Both teams relayed heavily on their defenses, struggling to get drives together. Antioch scored first with a long throw in the first half. After that though, Lenys D stiffened up and for the rest of the game...anytime Antioch was threatening, Lenys defense came up with a big play. Lenys only touchdown came on a long run by Bryan "Thunder Chief" Pomper. He broke numerous tackles and "belly-bumped" his way into the end zone. The real story though, comes late in the game. Tied at 7 apiece, the two teams had traded possessions a number of times. Antioch had a chance with the ball on their own 35 and about 1:30 left in the game they only needed a field goal to win. But Lenys defense had other plans. A sack, a pass batted down, and another sack left Antioch with 4th and 20 from their own 15. Electing to punt with only about 30 seconds left meant a for-sure overtime championship....but the Crew had other ideas. Mike "Big Mex" Ramirez, who had an "All-star" season, was given a gap on the O-line, as the snap happened, Mike took full advantage and blew past the O-Line man left to block him one-on-one....not happening. Mike blocked the punt, giving the ball back to the offense with 8 seconds left and a chance to end the game with a field goal. "Thunder Chief" calmly drilled the game winner, bringing the Fisher of Men’s trophy back to Lenys Place for the first time.

Baddogs Continue Dominance with Spring 7v7 Title
The Bad Dogs defeated ‘Next Tuesday 14-0 for the League championship with an abrupt game ending scrum with officials and 'Next Tuesday Players.
The first time these two teams met, Baddogs got the best of NT buy running the ball behind a stellar O-Line and strong running from Casey Brevig and Eric Rabon, but NT was ready for the re-match and came out fired up and ready to play. The game started off aggressive with some hard runs by Casey, and some key down field blocks by the WR's.
However, the real story is in the Baddog Defense. After going up 14-0 with more then 5 minutes left in the half, the defense forced another turn over on downs, positioning the offense to score a 3rd time in the half. NT QB was so frustrated with the turn over, and the perceived lack of calls from the officials, he begin to chirp at the refs. This persisted, causing an altercation with the official. This blew up, causing a scuffle on the sideline, and the game was called with the Baddogs claiming the victory.
While not the most convincing win for the Baddogs, it was a good first half of football for both the offense and defense. Overall a great showing for the Spring 7v7 league, many young players playing at a high level.

The second day of the Tournament of Champions 8v8 flag football tournament in the Seattle market turned out to be a good one. The day started out with the Seabags not showing up to play against OCC. OCC didn’t mind, they used the extra hour to get ready against their Round I match up verses the Tacoma Sharks. The second game featured Antioch and Navy City Metals. It was back and forth and just as physical as we could expect. Antioch got out to the early lead but Navy City scored within the final minutes to secure the victory. They would face the mighty Crush at 12noon.
The defending champion Sharks took care of business against OCC but would struggle verses the Bad Dogs. Meanwhile, the Crush held off Navy City and they climbed out to a two touchdown lead. It got pretty scary for the Crush as Navy City came back to within a score. The amount of time left in the game allowed the Crush to kneel out and secure the victory.
The Bad Dogs took advantage of a depleted Tacoma Sharks squad and had three roughing the passer penalties which forced The Sharks QB to sit out the last four or five minutes of the game.
This made for a fantastic championship game that had the Crush storm out to an early lead. The Bad Dogs did tie it up right before the half and everyone knew the second half would be touch tense football. Of course we can’t have a championship game without controversy and sure enough, we had it. Trailing the Crush by a score, the Bad Dogs sent their wide receiver deep and Bad Dog QB Noah Roehl launched a 40 yard bomb that the officials called as a PI.
Every Crush player didn’t think it was PI. Every Bad Dog player said, ‘of course it was PI, no question’. And so the drama continues. The Bad Dogs ended up winning in one of the most storied comeback in their history.

Baddogs make it a clean sweep of 8v8 in 2011
It’s always fun to watch Leny’s Crew and the Bad Dogs duke it out. Put the playoffs on the line and it can get a little chippy. Put a championship on the line and it can get down right nasty. Take the 9man champion Leny’s Crew, split them in two and you have the Bad Dogs and Leny’s Crew. Noah "Hush" Roehl, QB and captain of the Bad Dogs, has put together an impressive string of three straight 8man titles and a late summer championship in the Tournament of Champions.
The Bad Dogs controlled the game from the beginning not giving Leny’s QB, Bryan Pomper a chance to find his receivers. Leny's was missing a few key players, hit with with an injury to Team Captain, Andy "Big Tex" Evans, earlier in the season and missing their center and running back, Leny's struggled to find their rhythm. The Baddog defense did what it does best and kept Leny's Offense out of the end-zone for most the game. Mike "Rambles" Rose was in their backfield all game and would not stop running his mouth, as is customary for him. The secondary held strong and a late game pick 6 by Roy "Yang" Coleman, all but sealed the game.
The Baddog offense looked good early in the game, marching down the field on the opening drive and punching it in with a quick throw to Mr. Sub-Prime Time himself. The next few offensive series stalled out and eventually the Baddog offense got its rhythm again and got a second score on the board. Both teams were in good spirits for most of the game and Leny's finally clicked and the found pay dirt late in the game, but the Baddogs had the game in control and won 19-6.

NO-SO Bowl, Comeback Sports & Premier Flag Football - THE YEAR OF THE DOG
_The Baddogs traveled to Tacoma the following weekend and played in
one of their most competitive games against the south sound champions,
Navy City Metal. The game was a battle of heavy weights with Navy City
striking first on a roll out pass that got their center open in the
endzone. The Baddogs answered quickly by throwing to a wide open Mitch
"High Tower" Dillard off a play action pass. The game went back and
fourth and the play on the field was as physical as could be expected
when to champions meet.
Defenses dug in, Navy City with two big 4th down stops and an interception, and the Baddogs with numerous sacks and two interceptions. The game would remain in a bit of stalemate until late in the second half. With under 3 minutes to play, the Baddogs scored to tie the game up, Navy City got the ball back with about 2:30 left in the game and scored the go ahead touchdown with less then :45 left. Baddogs needed to go 60 yards to tie the game up, after a few short passes working the sideline, Roy "Yang" Coleman caught a short out route, eluded two tacklers and raced to the end-zone. After a failed conversion, Navy City had to go 60 yards in :25 to win the game. The Baddog defense held and the game would go into overtime.
The Baddogs won the toss and elected to play defense first, on the third play a Baddog players was significantly hurt and after a 10 minute delay was helped off the field. Navy City scored on the next play setting up a pivotal and crucial conversion. The Baddog defense again came up big, knocking the pass down to give the offense a chance to win the game. 2 plays, 1 Player! New to the Baddogs this year was Bernard Blouser, a free agent pick up from the Tacoma Sharks. He had been a go to WR all season, but nothing as clutch as here. First play was a play action pass with Blouser running along the back line of the end-zone. QB stepped up, avoided a sack and threw a bad ball, low and behind. With a great adjustment and knack for bringing tough balls, Bernard adjusted and made a sliding catch to tie the game up. On the conversion, The primary target was Kellen "Fabio" Florence, but after being held on the line of scrimmage, his route didn't open in time, but dragging across the front of the end-zone was Bernard, a short flip from the QB completed the conversion and the NO-SO Champions were crowned.
